Of Mice and Men: Do You Have What It Takes to Make It in the MLM Business?

I won’t try to fool you—the MLM business can be tough. In fact, roughly 97% of people who go into multi-level marketing fail. It’s a sad statistic, and it makes me even sadder because I know it doesn’t have to be that way!

Why do I say that? Because I’ve owned an offline MLM business and 2 Internet-based MLM businesses. When I tried offline multi-level marketing it was dismal. But when I changed my mindset, moved online, and started getting the right training, everything changed!

I had my first experience with MLM, the one that failed, at age 18. However, I went back to the MLM business at age 21, and I was successful in just a few years. Then I took a break, but since I came back with my third MLM business, I have become one of the top 3% earners in the industry.

How did I do it? Well, part of it was magic—the magic of a positive mindset.

I took that break from business at a very low time in my life. My husband had left me and taken my daughter with him. What he left behind was a mountain of debt—more than sufficient to wipe me out. So suddenly, I was left with no husband, a custody fight, and no income!

I have to admit, I didn’t exactly face those first few days of loss feeling very optimistic about my future. But then a good friend gave me a copy of the movie, The Secret.

I was electrified! I remember a man in The Secret telling the story of how, when he was down and out, he took a printout of his bank balance and put several zeros behind it. Soon he was back up and earning several million dollars!

After taking his advice, I received a call with a new MLM business opportunity. I took that opportunity, but first I negotiated with the company to insure myself a position I really wanted with it.

What happened? I was able to get my daughter back, paid off the debts my husband left me with, and became a financial success!!

Now, I don’t want to make you think that I’m a success today just because I turned my mind around. However, turning my mind to a prosperity mindset left me open when the new MLM business opportunity opened up. That mindset is what drove me to negotiate with the company so I could do the work I really wanted to do.

And that’s what I mean about having what it takes to be successful with an MLM business. First you have to decide that you already are a success. There are no failures—only setbacks like the one I had when my husband left me with a pile of debts.

Next you need to apply your action, determination, and desire to your dreams and your MLM business—and keep doing it no matter what happens!

I believe that one of the main reasons people fail in the MLM business is because they don’t have that winning mindset. They give up too soon, and they don’t believe in themselves. Don’t be one of those people. Decide now how many zeros you want in your bank balance, and decide to make it happen!
