Welcome to the Rest of Your Life: What to Expect Your First Year of Network Marketing

If you’ve just gotten started in this business you’re no doubt wondering what to expect your first year of network marketing. On one hand, you’ve heard a lot of very exciting get-rich-quick stories. On the other, you’ve heard that 97% of new network marketers fail.

Which is true? And how can you make sure you last through your first year to find out?

Well, I hate to have to tell you this, but that 97% failure rate you’ve heard about is true. And many of those get-rich-quick stories you’ve read on the Internet—aren’t.

But wait! Don’t give up after reading those few sentences! Because what is also true is that network marketing involves a set of skills that you can learn. And once you’ve learned them, you have a solid shot at joining me and other top network marketers in earning a the income you dream about.

Just don’t expect to do it in your first month, OK? Because that’s why the majority of that 97% fail—they read the get-rich-quick stories and swallowed them whole! And when their expectations aren’t met quickly, they quit.

And what happens to the rest of that 97%? I believe that they fail in large part because they strike out on their own. They don’t take the time to learn the ropes of this business from one of the best. With all of the false information out there on network marketing, it’s no wonder they fail.

With that in mind, let me tell you the one thing you can definitely expect during your first year as a network marketer: You’re going to be riding a learning curve. A big one.

When I joined my second network marketing company, the one where I achieved my first success, I spent a great deal of my time during my first year just learning how to do it right. I was fortunate to be mentored by my sponsor’s sponsor, and I did everything he told me to do. I also watched him closely and did everything I saw him do.

And that’s how I earned the financial freedom I was looking for. It took a little bit more than a year. Now, I’m with a different network marketing company. I have a team of over 50,000 people spread out over several countries, and I’m enjoying complete time, location, and financial freedom.

So please, don’t give up on network marketing if you don’t make that first million during your first year. That would be a huge mistake!

Here is what I want you to do instead—find a top network marketing leader and start learning from that person. Then, do what I did: Do everything they say and everything they do.

And, simply, that’s what to expect your first year of network marketing. You’ll learn a lot. You’ll grow a lot as a person. And eventually, with action, determination, and desire, you will be a success!
